ABS Support Team for Academia, National Institute of Genetics are pleased to announce that the team will hold “International Bioresource Workshop 2021: ABS in the field of plant genetic resources ~The case of Centre for Genetic Resources, the Netherlands” on 17 December, 2021. -Dr. Theo van Hintum
[Head CGN-PGR, Centre for Genetic Resources, The Netherlands (CGN)]
Dr. Theo van Hintum leads the plant division of the Centre for Genetic Resources, the Netherlands (CGN), which forms part of Wageningen University & Research (WUR). His research covered a wide array of topics related to plant genetic resources management. This included the application of new technologies (genomics, information technology) to genebank management, quantitative approaches related the composition of genebank collections and to genetic erosion, environmental niche modelling, but also the impact of international ABS policies on the functioning of genebanks. He is active member of several international platforms related to plant genetic resources management, did many reviews and consultancies, and has published over seventy scientific papers.

[Senior Scientist Policies, Centre for Genetic Resources, The Netherlands (CGN)]
Dr. Martin Brink is working at the Centre for Genetic Resources, the Netherlands (CGN), which forms part of Wageningen University & Research (WUR). His work is focused on genetic resources policies, especially on Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS), the regulation of access to and use of genetic resources and traditional knowledge, and the sharing of benefits from their use between providers and users. He is the National Focal Point on ABS for the Netherlands and is supporting the activities of the Netherlands in international genetic resources fora. He was involved in the development of new official EU guidance on the Regulation implementing the Nagoya Protocol in the EU, published in January 2021.
